Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roberto Amongero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick James!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Amongero lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but James circles away quickly and effectively.
James avoids a punch combination nicely.
Amongero throws a nice looking combination but James bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
James throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Amongero rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but James moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Amongero misses with the combination.
James shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Amongero pinned against the cage. Amongero gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Amongero throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
No joy there for Amongero, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
James showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Amongero.

Amongero gets tackled into the cage by James. James maintains the clinch.
With the fighters up against the cage, James throws an elbow but misses.
James has Amongero pressed against the cage, preventing Amongero from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

James manages to break the clinch.
Roberto Amongero is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

James clinches up with Amongero and pushes him back against the cage.

Amongero wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but James has him pressed against the cage.

Amongero displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from James.
Roberto Amongero has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick James.

Roberto Amongero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Amongero slips a jab and a cross from James.
James dives in and grabs Amongero's left leg, looking for a takedown. Amongero pushes down on James's head and hops out.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

James throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and Amongero counters with a left and a right that stings James.

James gets in close and instigates a clinch.

James's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Amongero scores with a punch to the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
James tries to clinch there but Amongero circles away.

James moves into the clinch.

James changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Amongero fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Amongero fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Amongero ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Amongero lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but James circles away quickly and effectively.
Amongero lands a jab-cross combination.
Nice uppercut there from Amongero.
Amongero keeps the fight on the outside.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Amongero wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
James tries to clinch there but Amongero circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James avoids a punch combination nicely.

James feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Amongero is looking to stand back up but James counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Amongero.
James wants to pass to mount but Amongero is defending the position.
Amongero wants to get back to his feet.
James passes to side control.
James tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Amongero dodges the ground and pound from James.
James is working Amongero over with some ground and pound from side control.
James creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Amongero sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Amongero is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, James asserts his dominance and retains side control.
James advances to full mount.
James is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Amongero is trying to stand.
James looking to finish with strikes here!

James looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
James tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
James won't let Amongero get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
James has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Amongero tries to buck James off but he can't manage it.

Poor strikes thrown by James there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

James lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Amongero is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

James looking to finish Amongero with some ground and pound. This is bad for Amongero!

James postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Amongero looks a forlorn figure.
Amongero is trying to stand.

James lands a big elbow.
Amongero tries to buck James off but he can't manage it.
James lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Amongero is rocked!
Amongero wants to get back to his feet.
Oh Amongero is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
James pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
James lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
James unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Amongero wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! James celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nick James!
