Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harvey Holcomb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thorbjorn Rekdal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rekdal digs a good hook to Holcomb's body.

Holcomb has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Rekdal is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Holcomb.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Rekdal throws a low kick but it's checked well by Holcomb.

Holcomb takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

No joy there for Rekdal, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Thorbjorn Rekdal dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Holcomb fails with the takedown
and Rekdal counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Rekdal scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Sloppy strikes from Rekdal. Those never looked like landing.
Rekdal feints and then cracks Holcomb's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Holcomb down.

That kick from Rekdal tenderised Holcomb's leg. Holcomb is trying to keep his angry face on.
Rekdal tries to close the distance and clinch but Holcomb swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A big left from Holcomb misses.

Rekdal lands a big right hand that sends Holcomb crashing to the mat! Rekdal stays standing though and waves Holcomb back to his feet!
Harvey Holcomb's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Harvey Holcomb's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
