The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wilson doesn't manage to clinch there - Shepard circles away.
No joy there for Wilson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Wilson throws a head kick that misses. Shepard swings for the body but Wilson moves out of range.
Wilson connects with an inside leg kick. Wilson misses with a combination
and Shepard counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wilson won't be happy with that. Shepard sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Wilson is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Shepard is working to tighten is grip on Wilson's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Wilson has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Shepard is really squeezing tight and eventually Wilson passes out! Shepard breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). John Shepard!
