Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rafael BayawaK! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Medley ! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Fujiwara and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! BayawaK looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. BayawaK closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Medley is looking to work his way out of this bad position but BayawaK is controlling him well. BayawaK working away. BayawaK scoring with punches and elbows. BayawaK postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Medley manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Medley wants to stand but BayawaK has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Medley trying to mount his opponent but BayawaK defends it.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. John Medley wasn't active enough on the ground. BayawaK throws a jab but it's blocked by Medley . Nice takedown defense from Medley . No joy for BayawaK on that attempt. Medley takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
It looks like Rafael BayawaK has been cut. Medley lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Medley throws a wild body kick that BayawaK sees coming a mile off.
That's two minutes gone in the round. BayawaK feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Medley working a defensive guard here.
BayawaK controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Medley is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Medley manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

The ref stands the fighters back up. John Medley was stalling too much, according to the referee. BayawaK shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than BayawaK was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Medley is in a horrible position here. BayawaK smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

That's five minutes gone in the round. BayawaK punishing his opponent with strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. BayawaK can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Medley is looking to escape. Medley sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Medley is refusing to be controlled, as BayawaK sits in half guard. BayawaK throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. BayawaK throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Medley to regain full guard. BayawaK trying to control the position from guard on top but Medley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Medley looking to hit a scissor sweep but BayawaK is one step ahead there.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Medley pulls BayawaK in to control the position. Medley keeping moving, preventing BayawaK from controlling successfully. BayawaK stopping the sweep attempt from Medley . The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. BayawaK is in close to Medley 's body, working some short punches and elbows. BayawaK postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. BayawaK throws a big right hand that misses. BayawaK being controlled here momentarily. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Medley can do anything to dispel that myth. BayawaK stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Medley swivels though and keeps the full guard. BayawaK won't allow Medley to sweep him here. Medley manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's eight minutes gone in the round. Medley controlling from the full mount. BayawaK is desperately trying to improve his position but Medley has a good base and remains in mount. BayawaK is squirming around, avoiding Medley 's attempts to control the action.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Medley controlling his opponent.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by John Medley . BayawaK pushes Medley up against the cage in a clinch. BayawaK is trying to drag Medley to the mat but Medley just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rafael BayawaK. That's going to take a lot out of him. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Medley manages to break the clinch.
Medley lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to John Medley . I think Medley has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

John Medley wins by unanimous decision! John Medley decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
