Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergei Terentiev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Colt Slater! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Sergei Dronov and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A combination from Terentiev does no damage. Terentiev looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Slater drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Terentiev is looking for a sweep. Terentiev on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Slater tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Slater looks up at the clock and then as Terentiev takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Slater smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Terentiev on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Slater trying to control the position but Terentiev is working away. Terentiev wants to control but Slater postures up. Slater lands an elbow. Slater in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
That's one minute gone in the round. Slater working the head with strikes. Slater landing a few strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Slater tries to score with some ground and pound. Terentiev controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Terentiev defending against the ground and pound. Terentiev is trying to control Slater's posture but Slater avoids it. Slater scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Terentiev to see if he's OK. Slater tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Slater has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Slater trying to control the position but Terentiev is working away. Slater has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Slater throws a strike aimed at the side of Terentiev's head but Terentiev avoids it well. Terentiev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Slater on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Terentiev wants to get back to his feet but Slater drags him back down. Slater is chipping away with strikes.

Terentiev taking a bit of punishment here - Slater scoring with strikes. Slater is looking to take a break and control but Terentiev is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Terentiev is looking to regain half guard here but Slater keeps moving and retains side control. Terentiev bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Terentiev throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Slater looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Terentiev! Terentiev really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Slater wants to control the pace but Terentiev is squirming around nicely. Terentiev is trying to stand up. The referee warns Terentiev that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Slater wants to finish this one by submission but Terentiev is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Slater. Slater prevents Terentiev from getting the reversal.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Terentiev takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Slater is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Terentiev is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Terentiev flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Slater anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Terentiev and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Slater slips an arm under Terentiev chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Slater has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Slater is squeezing on Terentiev like an anaconda would it's prey. Terentiev fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Colt Slater!
