Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicholas Mazyck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dave Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nicholas Mazyck!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Josh West and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mazyck lands a nice leg kick that just misses Jackson's sensitive parts.
Jackson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Mazyck shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jackson but Jackson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mazyck shoots in but no luck this time.
Dave Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nicholas Mazyck.

Mazyck shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jackson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Mazyck trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jackson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mazyck's guard.
Jackson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Jackson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Jackson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jackson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mazyck is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Jackson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Jackson controls the position from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jackson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jackson cracks Mazyck with a big right hand but Mazyck just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mazyck can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jackson takes a little break here. Mazyck wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Jackson is putting a hurting on Mazyck here, landing some big shots from side control.
Mazyck is trying to improve his position.
Mazyck looks gassed!

Jackson decides to take the fight back to the feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jackson looking to score a takedown here. Mazyck is defending well but Jackson drives through and ends up in Mazyck's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Jackson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jackson advances to half guard.
Jackson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mazyck with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Mazyck is in trouble now - Jackson has advanced to mount!
Jackson controlling the position easily from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mazyck tries to hold on but Jackson pushes him away.
Jackson lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Mazyck hang on?
Mazyck really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jackson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jackson controlling the position easily from mount.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jackson is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Jackson!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Dave Jackson!
After the fight, Dave Jackson was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
