Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ken Korymotto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lamont Hawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ken Korymotto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lamont Hawkins!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Korymotto throws a sloppy head kick and Hawkins moves out of range easily.
Korymotto looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Korymotto rushes Hawkins and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hawkins tries to break free but Korymotto pushes him back against the cage.
Korymotto wants to take the fight to the mat but Hawkins manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Hawkins pulls guard.
Korymotto postures up.
Korymotto tries to free his leg and advance position but Hawkins is retaining full guard.
Hawkins pulls Korymotto in close to his closed guard and prevents Korymotto from doing any damage or advancing position.
Let's hope that Hawkins has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Lamont Hawkins was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Hawkins connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Korymotto tries to keep at a distance but Hawkins has taken the fight into the clinch.
Hawkins misses with a punch to the body.
Hawkins misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Hawkins misses with a short punch on the inside.
Hawkins tries a body shot but Korymotto blocks it.
Korymotto jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hawkins walks away with a smile on his face. Korymotto gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Korymotto closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hawkins just leaning against Korymotto, taking a breather.
Hawkins wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Korymotto has him pressed against the cage.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Hawkins.
Hawkins slowing the pace effectively.
Hawkins misses with a hook to the ribs.
Hawkins displaying some good clinch control by pressing Korymotto up against the cage.

Hawkins lands a body punch.
Hawkins lands a left hand.
Korymotto blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Hawkins misses with a punch to the body.

Hawkins jumps guard and drags Korymotto to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Hawkins looking for a sweep. Not yet Hawkins, not yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hawkins pulls Korymotto in close to his closed guard and prevents Korymotto from doing any damage or advancing position.
Korymotto stops Hawkins from standing up.

Hawkins manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Hawkins sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Hawkins's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Lamont Hawkins hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Korymotto avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Hawkins closes the distance and pushes Korymotto back into the cage.
Korymotto jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hawkins walks away with a smile on his face. Korymotto gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ken Korymotto. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hawkins wants to clinch.
Ken Korymotto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hawkins rushes Korymotto and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hawkins lands a nice uppercut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hawkins is trying to force a seperation but Korymotto has the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Korymotto closes the distance and clinches.
Hawkins wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Korymotto has him pressed against the cage.
Hawkins goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Hawkins working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Hawkins tries to break free but Korymotto pushes him back against the cage.
Hawkins digs a right hand into Korymotto's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Korymotto's gas tank.
Hawkins works on Korymotto's body with a couple of short punches.
Hawkins tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Korymotto just stands there and leans against the cage.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
A nice left hand lands by Hawkins.

Hawkins looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Korymotto has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hawkins lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Korymotto!

Korymotto is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hawkins connects with a good right hand that stumbles Korymotto. Korymotto circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hawkins is on top in guard.

Hawkins lands a nice hook to Korymotto's body. Korymotto takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hawkins is on top in guard.

Korymotto has Hawkins pressed against the cage, preventing Hawkins from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Korymotto keeps control of Hawkins as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Hawkins wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

A head punch on the inside from Hawkins fails to land.
Korymotto's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Hawkins ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hawkins no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Hawkins has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Korymotto's face.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hawkins looking to control and managing it successfully.
Ken Korymotto has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lamont Hawkins is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Lamont Hawkins comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hawkins has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
