4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Eric Brooks! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Konstantin Menshow and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brooks shoots for a double leg takedown but Garcilazo sprawls well. He's pushed Brooks's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Brooks tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Garcilazo paws at him with a jab and circles away. Garcilazo lands with a good body shot. Garcilazo gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Brooks to score an easy takedown into full guard. Garcilazo controlling Brooks's posture. Brooks looking to pass the guard. We're going to have a standup here because Daniel Garcilazo wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Garcilazo lands a lovely overhand right. Garcilazo finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The fighters are battling for position here. Brooks manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Garcilazo wants to control from the top but Brooks keeps moving. Garcilazo is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. This has been an exciting period of action! Garcilazo is looking to take a break and control but Brooks is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Brooks lands with a few short shots to the body. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Nice strikes from Garcilazo there. Garcilazo wants to control but Brooks is keeping him busy. Brooks gets back to full guard.

Brooks can't keep hold of the triangle and Garcilazo manages to pass to side control! Brooks is breathing heavily. Brooks is looking for a sweep. This has been an exciting period of action! Garcilazo trying to control the position but Brooks is working away. Brooks tries to get back to half guard but can't. Brooks is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Garcilazo connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Brooks some visible discomfort.
Garcilazo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Brooks knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Garcilazo looks up at the clock and then as Brooks takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Garcilazo smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Garcilazo has hold of Brooks's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Brooks tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Garcilazo cranks the arm and Brooks screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Brooks, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Daniel Garcilazo! Daniel Garcilazo retains his lightweight title! After the fight, Daniel Garcilazo was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
