Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nuriel Leonard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nelson Mandela (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mandela has chosen Free Nelson Mandela as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nuriel Leonard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nelson Mandela! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mandela fails with a takedown attempt. Leonard digs a good hook to Mandela's body.
Nice cross by Leonard. Leonard misses the shot to the body. Leonard gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Mandela stops Leonard from standing up. Leonard is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Nuriel Leonard wasn't doing enough on the ground. Leonard lands a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mandela is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Leonard. Leonard wants to clinch but Mandela slips to the side and Mandela counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Leonard is looking to sweep but instead, Mandela has passed into half guard.
Leonard manages to get to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mandela won't allow Leonard to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Leonard looking to control.
We're going to have a standup here because Nuriel Leonard wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Mandela is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Leonard. Leonard thuds a left hand into Mandela's body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mandela misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. A cross from Leonard lands. Leonard keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Mandela with a poor takedown and Leonard counters with a lovely shot to the body. Nuriel Leonard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nelson Mandela. A jab lands there for Leonard. Mandela misses with a series of wild punches.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Mandela gets tackled into the cage by Leonard. Leonard maintains the clinch. Mandela has a couple of punches blocked by Leonard.

Mandela tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Leonard throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Mandela blocks it with crossed arms. Mandela is pressed up against the cage. Leonard has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mandela down to the mat. Mandela avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Mandela dips down and scores with a jab to the body. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Leonard throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Leonard just misses with a punch to the body.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nuriel Leonard dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Mandela looks to throw a body kick and Leonard counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Mandela thinking. Leonard tries to clinch but Mandela moves away and Mandela counters with a leg kick. Mandela shoots for a takedown but Leonard saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Mandela closes the distance and clinches up with Leonard, looking for a takedown. Mandela pushes Leonard against the cage but Leonard circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Mandela uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Leonard.
Leonard fails in his attempt to clinch. Leonard tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mandela was well out of range. Poor timing from Leonard. Leonard tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mandela swats him away and circles back towards the center. The fight stays on the outside here - Leonard looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Leonard looks to score with a jab to the body but Mandela is just out of range. Leonard misses with a shot to the body and Mandela counters with a one-two to the body.

A jab from Mandela misses. Mandela stuffs the takedown. Leonard misses with a straight right. Leonard is looking to wear down Mandela with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. A jab lands there for Leonard. Leonard misses with a body shot.
Nuriel Leonard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Leonard ducks right into an uppercut from Mandela. Leonard works Mandela's body with a nice hook. Mandela dives in and grabs Leonard's left leg, looking for a takedown. Leonard pushes down on Mandela's head and hops out. Nuriel Leonard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nelson Mandela. Mandela throws a shot from downtown. Leonard moves away and avoids it.

Nelson Mandela is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Leonard tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mandela was well out of range. Poor timing from Leonard. Leonard tests Mandela's chin there with a solid looking shot. Leonard tries to clinch but fails miserably and Mandela counters with a left and a right that stings Leonard. Leonard ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Leonard gets a takedown into half guard. Leonard throws a strike but Mandela avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Leonard postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leonard scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Leonard pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mandela is keeping the position for now. Leonard is looking to work some ground and pound but Mandela has wrist control. Leonard is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Leonard landing some decent shots from guard. Leonard throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mandela works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Leonard throws a strike but Mandela rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Leonard is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Leonard looking to control.

Leonard avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Mandela is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Nuriel Leonard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nelson Mandela. Nice body punch from Leonard - that landed with a thud.

Mandela drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Leonard gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Leonard gets control of Mandela's arms and successfully pulls guard. Leonard will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Leonard looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Mandela puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Leonard moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Leonard is trying to hold Mandela in close to prevent damage but Mandela has managed to pass into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Leonard tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Mandela manages to move to mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mandela misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Leonard wants to try and get back to his feet. Leonard is in all sorts of trouble here.
Leonard is in a horrible position here. Mandela smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. You get the feeling that Leonard really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Mandela putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Leonard tries to lock up and control but Mandela gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Nuriel Leonard is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Leonard gets back to half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nuriel Leonard. Well Leonard has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
