Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Guss Griswald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kendall Massey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griswald comes to the cage accompanied by I Set My Friends On Fire - Aiden. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Guss Griswald!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kendall Massey!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, David Schapiro and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Massey swings for the body but Griswald moves out of range.
Griswald swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Massey.
Griswald doesn't manage to clinch there - Massey circles away.
Griswald is looking to clinch.
A slapping leg kick lands for Massey.
Griswald on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Massey. Massey obviously looking to wear him down.
Massey tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Griswald counters by clinching up.

and Massey counters with a series of strikes. Griswald will be more careful next time no doubt.

Griswald closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Massey to the mat! Massey manages to get full guard.
Massey wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Griswald manages to pass to side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Still in half guard, Griswald seems content to control.

Massey is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Massey is trying to maintain the position but Griswald is very close to passing his half guard.

Massey wants to get back to his feet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Griswald stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Massey.
Massey avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Griswald tries to clinch but Massey moves out of range.

Griswald works to advance to full mount. Massey defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Griswald breaks from Massey's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Massey is trying desperately to improve position.
Griswald has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Massey's face.

Massey tries to hold on but Griswald postures up.

Griswald jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Massey is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Massey and Griswald has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Griswald changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Massey looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Griswald has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Griswald just content to control the position.
Massey is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Griswald's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Griswald passes the guard and advances to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Griswald lands a big shot there that rocks Massey but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Griswald takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

Massey rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Massey is trying to get back to full guard.

Massey has one foot on Griswald's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Massey misses with a few strikes there.
Massey looks for the body kick but Griswald saw that one coming.
Griswald moves out of range as Massey throws a body kick.
Griswald is looking to land body kicks.

Griswald closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Massey drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Griswald gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Griswald throws a head punch that misses.

Massey manages to break the clinch.

Massey tries to bench press Griswald off him but Griswald keeps the position.
Massey is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Griswald counters with a single leg into guard. Massey didn't expect that.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Griswald drops down looking for an ankle pick but Massey pulls his leg out and moves away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Massey tries to clinch up but Griswald circles away and keeps his distance.

Griswald misses with an uppercut. Massey saw that one coming.

Griswald drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Massey can't do much from the bottom here.
Massey is not content to let Griswald control the position.
Massey is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Griswald wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Massey, who protects the arm well.

Griswald drops back looking for a leg! Massey is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Massey manages to kick Griswald off! Griswald jumps back into Massey's guard.
Griswald wants to control from the top but Massey keeps moving.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Griswald stands and throws Massey's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Massey stops Griswald from passing to mount.
Kendall Massey has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Griswald remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Griswald seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Massey for as long as he can get away with.

And that's the end of the fight!
Guss Griswald showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Griswald, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
