Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bad Religion! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Living Laser! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Laser shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Religion pinned against the cage. Religion gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Laser keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Religion shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Laser but Laser pushes him off and we're back to square one. Religion feints and as Laser raises his hands in defense, Religion changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Laser looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Laser manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Religion manages to get himself to full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Religion is on top in guard.
Laser throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
That's one minute gone in the round. Religion thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Religion gets to his feet - Laser follows without any prompting. Laser tries to clinch but Religion moves out of range. Religion tries to clinch but Laser is having none of it. Laser tries to clinch there but Religion circles away.
Religion clinches up against the cage. Religion escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Religion moves out of range of the body kick from Laser.
Laser changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Religion looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Laser working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Religion is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Laser off and has taken his back!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Laser looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. Religion just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Religion has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Laser is defending well but eventually Religion manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Laser has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bad Religion!
