PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Orpheus Magnus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Orpheus Magnus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jason Miller!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Colin Fotheringham and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Miller scores a takedown into full mount!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Magnus wants to control but Miller is having none of it.

Miller is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Magnus to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Magnus shrugs it off.
Magnus taking shots to the head.
Magnus holds on to Miller around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.

Miller stands up from mount. Strange move.
Magnus scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Miller shoots in for a double leg but Magnus sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Miller walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Miller has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Magnus finds it's way round the side to connect with Miller's head.
Magnus throws a good cross that connects.
Miller shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Magnus as he jumps to the side.
Magnus scores with a punch to the head.
Miller tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Magnus paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Miller swings widly with a right hand
and Magnus connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Miller forces Magnus back against the cage and clinches.

Miller escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Miller uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Magnus.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A looping hook to the body misses from Miller. Magnus does a little dance to reset his feet.

Miller moves into range and clinches up with Magnus.

Miller manages to break the clinch.

Miller clinches up with Magnus and pushes him back against the cage.
Miller is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Magnus gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Miller.
Orpheus Magnus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Miller.
Magnus wants to break the clinch but can't.

Miller pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Miller needs to keep his hands up - Magnus had a free shot at his head there.
Miller tries to clinch but Magnus is having none of it.

Magnus digs a good hook to Miller's body.
Miller looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Miller fails with the takedown
and Magnus counters with a nice uppercut.
Magnus throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Miller stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Magnus connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Magnus throws a lazy right hand but Miller sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Miller throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Magnus is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Miller.
Magnus throws out a loose jab but Miller uses good head movement to avoid it.
Magnus keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Magnus tests Miller's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Nice straight punches there by Magnus. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Magnus.
Miller closes the distance but Magnus moves to the side
and Magnus counters with a straight right hand.
Miller throws a sloppy head kick and Magnus moves out of range easily.
Miller is looking to score with low kicks.
Magnus throws a hook but Miller blocks it.
Miller takes a jab right on the kisser.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Miller moves out of range of the strikes.
Magnus stuns Miller with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Magnus throws a body punch but Miller moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Orpheus Magnus will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Miller takes one to the chin there.
Miller moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Magnus swats away the attempt to clinch by Miller.
Miller looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Magnus is fending him off so far but Miller persists. Nope, Magnus circles away and we're back to standing.
Miller shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Magnus defends it nicely.
Miller on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Magnus throws a body punch but Miller moves out of range.
Miller avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Magnus misses with a body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Miller takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Magnus ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Miller moves away.
Jason Miller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Miller is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Miller fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Orpheus Magnus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Miller.
Magnus is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Magnus misses with a straight left.
Magnus's corner calls for a 1-2. Magnus obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Miller takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Miller throws a push kick but Magnus slaps the foot to one side.

A cross from Magnus lands.
Miller on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Miller moves into the clinch.

Miller breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Magnus lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Magnus scores with a sloppy right hand. Miller should have avoided that one.
Magnus lands a jab to the nose.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Magnus looks to land a combination. Miller sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Magnus scores with a nice head shot.

Miller looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Miller slips nicely into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Miller uses his free foot to push down on Magnus's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Magnus.
A nice elbow there by Miller.
Magnus can't escape the position.
Magnus is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Magnus knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Miller on the ground.

Magnus might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Magnus wants to control but Miller is having none of it.
Miller lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Magnus hang on?
Miller takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Miller working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Magnus looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Miller! Submission of the night perhaps?

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Jason Miller!
After the fight, Jason Miller was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
