The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Groote gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Atkinson is working for a takedown up against the ropes. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Atkinson tries for a takedown but De Groote manages to get underhooks.
De Groote is pushing Atkinson up against the ropes, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
De Groote has picked Atkinson up - he's going for a ride! De Groote dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Atkinson wants to sweep but De Groote has passed to side control!
De Groote remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Atkinson is trying to improve his position.
The referee asks De Groote politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. De Groote prefers to stall for the moment though.

Atkinson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Atkinson is trying to escape the position but De Groote is controlling the position.
De Groote is trying to get an arm triangle but Atkinson is defending well.
De Groote advances nicely into full mount.
De Groote lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
De Groote working the ground and pound effectively.
This has been an exciting period of action!
De Groote pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
De Groote can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Atkinson is looking to escape.
BOOM! De Groote connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Atkinson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
De Groote pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Atkinson is rocked!
It looks like Lucy Atkinson has been cut.
Atkinson takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! De Groote's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
