PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dillon Tyreke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Beckett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tyreke comes to the cage accompanied by Real Compton City G's. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jim Beckett was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Columbo Gatti and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beckett avoids the body shot from Tyreke.
Tyreke misses with a straight left.
Beckett slips under a jab.
Beckett scores with a shot to the body.
Tyreke just misses with a punch to the body.
Tyreke throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Beckett makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

so Beckett counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Beckett controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Beckett missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Beckett throws a big elbow that misses.
Beckett loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Beckett has gone for a leg lock! Tyreke slips out almost immediately though and dives into Beckett's guard.

Beckett is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Beckett is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tyreke defends it well.
Beckett seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tyreke does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Beckett thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tyreke tries to roll over but Beckett keeps him under control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Beckett wants to pass the guard but Tyreke is defending well.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Tyreke throws a hook to the side of Beckett's head but Beckett sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Beckett takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
A telegraphed right hand from Tyreke misses the target.
Tyreke tries a low kick but Beckett avoids it.

Tyreke scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
A big left from Tyreke misses.
Beckett takes a swing at Tyreke's ribcage but misses.
Dillon Tyreke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Tyreke gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Beckett to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Tyreke can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Beckett controls the pace.

Tyreke avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Beckett passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Tyreke managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Beckett.
Beckett is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Tyreke's shoulder. That is not cool.
Tyreke tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Beckett wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
You can see the frustration on Tyreke's face as Beckett controls the position.

Beckett passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Tyreke!
Tyreke is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Tyreke knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Beckett on the ground.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jim Beckett showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Beckett digs a right hand underneath Tyreke's ribcage. Tyreke let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Tyreke throws a looping overhand right but Beckett ducks down to avoid it.

enabling Beckett to counter with a crisp jab.

Beckett shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Beckett is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Tyreke is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
