PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cool Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Rowlans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cool Man!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dave Rowlans!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Winston Howard and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rowlans paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Rowlans circles away from the clinch attempt.
Man fails to land the takedown.
Man changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rowlans tries to avoid it but Man manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rowlans to the ground. Rowlans escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Rowlans throws a leg kick that is checked

and Man counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rowlans's guard now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Man looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Man's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Rowlans looking for a sweep. Not yet Rowlans, not yet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Man wants to pass the guard but Rowlans is keeping the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Cool Man.
A slow jab from Rowlans misses its intended target.
Rowlans fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rowlans swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Man closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Man lands in his opponent's guard.
Man will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Man controlling from the top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Man trying to control the position from guard on top but Rowlans is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Man slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Rowlans is looking to regain half guard here but Man keeps moving and retains side control.
Man trying to control the position but Rowlans is working away.

Man stands up and beckons Rowlans to his feet.
Rowlans swings for the body but Man moves out of range.
Rowlans feints and then cracks Man's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Man down.
Man uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rowlans.
Man bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Rowlans gets caught napping as Man dives in and scores a takedown. Rowlans manages to retain guard.
Man with a flurry of punches that miss.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Man wanted to stand there but Rowlans had control of the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Man tries to free his leg and advance position but Rowlans is retaining full guard.
Rowlans keeping moving, preventing Man from controlling successfully.
Man won't allow Rowlans to sweep him here.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Rowlans avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Cool Man wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Man needs to keep his hands up - Rowlans had a free shot at his head there.
Rowlans misses the shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cool Man dominated that round.

Man takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Man moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Rowlans throws a right and a left that Man avoids nicely.
Rowlans throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Man tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rowlans paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rowlans loads up on a big right hand but Man slips the punch.

Man closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Man is trying to control the action in half guard but Rowlans is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Man content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Man seems to be looking for submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rowlans wants to control but Man passes into side.
Man wants to control but Rowlans is keeping him busy.
Man has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Rowlans!
Man sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Rowlans really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Man. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Man seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rowlans for as long as he can get away with.
Rowlans is working to get back to half guard.
Man lands a heavy elbow.

Man sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Man looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Man looking to control but Rowlans is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Man has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Man is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Rowlans has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Man is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Rowlans can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cool Man dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Rowlans looks to land a right hand but Man moved out of range.
Man fails in his attempt to clinch.
Man scores with a head kick.
Rowlans connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Rowlans lands with a cross.
Rowlans showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Man.
Man avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Rowlans looks to land a right hand but Man moved out of range.
Rowlans missing with a left hand there. Man was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Rowlans throws a nice looking combination but Man bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Man fails in his attempt to clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Man moves in looking to clinch but Rowlans pushes him off.
Rowlans circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cool Man is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Man closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Rowlans keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Man stalling.

Man stands up from half guard.
Dave Rowlans seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Rowlans misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Man fails to land with a series of punches.
Rowlans jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Rowlans throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Man counters with a single leg into guard. Rowlans didn't expect that.
Man tries to free his leg and advance position but Rowlans is retaining full guard.
Rowlans takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rowlans keeping moving, preventing Man from controlling successfully.

Man chips away with some ground and pound.

Man wants to pass the guard but Rowlans is keeping the position.
Cool Man overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Rowlans cracks Man with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Man.
Man moves out of range of the strikes.
Rowlans clobbers Man with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Man is defended easily by Rowlans.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Man shoots in looking for a takedown. Rowlans tries to sprawl out of it but Man keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rowlans manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cool Man. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rowlans throws a left jab followed by a right to the body, Oh Man colapses and takes a barrage of punches from Rowlans as he moves to mount! the ref stops the fight and Man is left battered and dazed whilst Rowlans and his camp cheer!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dave Rowlans!
