Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Trey Mcdonald! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Blake Turner! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Turner stuffs the takedown attempt from Mcdonald. Mcdonald gets slowly back to his feet. Turner drives through with a takedown into Mcdonald's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Turner trying to control but Mcdonald is working from the bottom. Turner would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Mcdonald has his hands on Turner's head, controlling the position. Turner controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Blake Turner. Turner dodges the punch combination from Mcdonald.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mcdonald changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Turner tries to avoid it but Mcdonald manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Turner to the ground. Turner escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. An inside leg kick from Turner misses. Nice sprawl there from Turner as Mcdonald shoots in. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trey Mcdonald. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mcdonald fails with the takedown and Turner counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Turner. Turner tries to free his leg and advance position but Mcdonald is retaining full guard. Mcdonald preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Turner would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Mcdonald is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Turner looking to pass the guard. Mcdonald controlling the position.
We're going to have a standup here because Trey Mcdonald wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Mcdonald shoots in for a takedown but Turner shows good takedown defense. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mcdonald takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Turner is looking to land body kicks. Turner keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Mcdonald will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Mcdonald is breathing heavily. Mcdonald wants to clinch but Turner slips to the side and Turner counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mcdonald's guard now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mcdonald pushes Turner off and scrambles back to his feet.
Turner tries to clinch but Mcdonald is having none of it. Mcdonald tries for a takedown but Turner sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Turner fails to land with a series of punches.
Turner scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
It looks like Trey Mcdonald has been cut. Mcdonald misses with a takedown attempt and Turner counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Turner has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mcdonald uses from the top position. Turner is working an open guard so Mcdonald takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Turner throws a solid leg kick but Mcdonald takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Turner. Mcdonald gets caught flat footed, as Turner shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mcdonald has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Turner trying to control but Mcdonald is working from the bottom. Turner is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Blake Turner wasn't active enough on the ground. Mcdonald decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Mcdonald lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Turner wants to control but Mcdonald is keeping busy and won't allow it. Mcdonald is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Blake Turner dominated that round. The cut man is working on Trey Mcdonald's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Turner tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mcdonald swivels and escapes. Mcdonald fails with the takedown. Mcdonald fails to land with a series of punches.
Turner forces Mcdonald back against the cage and clinches. Turner gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mcdonald.
Mcdonald tries to pull guard but Turner won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trey Mcdonald. That's going to take a lot out of him. Turner jumps into guard, dragging Mcdonald to the mat.
Turner has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Mcdonald has passed into side control.
Mcdonald connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Turner some visible discomfort.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mcdonald cracks Turner with an elbow. That is naaassty. Mcdonald scoring with punches from side control. Turner takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Mcdonald scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Turner to see if he's OK. Mcdonald scoring with punches from side control. Mcdonald wants to lay and pray for a moment but Turner keeps working. Mcdonald working the head and body with strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mcdonald advances nicely into full mount. Mcdonald with good strikes from the mount here! Mcdonald working away from the top, dropping strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Turner takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Mcdonald with the ground and pound from mount.
Turner is rocked! Mcdonald loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Turner scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Mcdonald land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Mcdonald stands and salutes the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Trey Mcdonald!
