A fine choice. Matthieu Saunier has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saunier wants to clinch.
Santoro drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Santoro preventing the sweep.
Santoro stays in close to Saunier's body and controls the position.
Saunier is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Santoro is controlling him.
Saunier looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Santoro passes into half guard.
Santoro drops an elbow to the side of Saunier's head.
Santoro is trying to control. Saunier wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Saunier tries to kick Santoro off but Santoro keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Saunier really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Santoro wants to pass the guard but Saunier is defending well.
Saunier tries to get to full guard but Santoro has control of the leg.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Santoro wants to lay and pray for a moment but Saunier keeps working.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Santoro connects with a nice short shot to Saunier's temple.
Saunier wants to get back to full guard.
Santoro uses his free foot to push down on Saunier's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Saunier.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Santoro cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Santoro wants to control the pace but Saunier is squirming around nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Santoro lands a heavy elbow.
Saunier takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Santoro scoring with strikes but Saunier is staying in there.
Saunier is rocked!
Santoro lands a big shot there that rocks Saunier but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Oh Saunier is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Santoro postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Saunier badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Santoro around the waist but Santoro pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Santoro is the winner by TKO! Santoro jumps onto the ropes and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nicky Santoro!
