PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harley Rage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and You Submit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rage kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is All the boys and the girls. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as You Submit enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Harley Rage! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, You Submit! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, William Gold and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rage darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rage looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Submit is pressing down on Rage's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Submit is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Submit had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rage is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Submit Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rage's back instead. Submit lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Rage is keeping busy.
Submit is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Rage defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rage is trapped and Submit is scoring with shots to the head and body. Submit is persistently looking for the submission but Rage is defending it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Submit tightening his grip on Rage, looking for the choke. Submit looks gassed! Rage tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Submit goes for an armbar but Rage turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Rage. Rage postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Rage trying to control the position from guard on top but Submit is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Submit bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rage's guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Submit tries to free his leg and advance position but Rage is retaining full guard. Submit drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rage manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Submit has Rage in his guard. Rage trying to control the position from guard on top but Submit is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rage tries to free his leg and advance position but Submit is retaining full guard. Rage has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Rage working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Rage throwing strikes but missing. Rage slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Submit is trying to improve his position. Rage lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Submit down.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rage working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Submit is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Rage's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Submit is trying to maintain the position but Rage is very close to passing his half guard. Rage wants to get back to his feet.
Rage is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Submit doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Submit shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Rage counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Rage is nestled in close to Submit, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Rage is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Submit defends it well. Rage knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Submit on the ground. Rage is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Rage lands strikes from half guard.
Submit is rocked! Rage is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Submit is hurt! He's hurt bad - Rage fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Submit from any more punishment! Congratulations to Rage! Great finish!
