The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miyamoto takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Ribera is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Ribera cracks Miyamoto with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Ribera throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Miyamoto's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Ribera dives in looking to finish as Miyamoto flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Ribera's strikes! Ribera is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Miyamoto's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Miyamoto was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Manny Ribera! Manny Ribera retains his lightweight title!
