Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Small!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Tony Jaa!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Steven Brown and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Small tries to bum rush Jaa with a series of wild strikes but Jaa uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Small closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Small lands in his opponent's guard.
Small is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Jaa wants to stand up but Small is controlling him.
Small trying to control the position from guard on top but Jaa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.
Small advances position into side control!
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Small prevents Jaa from escaping the position.
Jaa struggling a bit here.
Jaa is looking for a sweep.
Small wants to control but Jaa is keeping him busy.
Jaa is trying to get back to half guard.
Jaa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Small. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Small blocks the strikes from Jaa.
Small working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Jaa tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Jaa is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Small working for a submission but Jaa is keeping him at bay.
Small prevents Jaa from getting the reversal.
You get the feeling that Jaa really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Jaa looks gassed!
Small takes Jaa's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Jaa is in trouble.
Jaa holding both Small 's hands and preventing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jaa rolls, trying to escape but Small keeps control of the position.
Small is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Jaa with him. Jaa is trying to defend but Small has an arm under the chin now! Jaa grimaces and is forced to tap out!
