Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Taz Lero! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nakki Makkara! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Hugh Johnson and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lero takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Lero shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Makkara instigates a clinch. A short uppercut from Makkara. Lero is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Makkara to keep the fight standing. Makkara scores with a shoulder strike. Makkara stalling.
Makkara throws a head punch that misses. Makkara leaning against his opponent.

A nice right hand lands inside from Makkara. Makkara swings wildly with an uppercut but Lero uses good head movement to avoid it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lero won't allow Makkara to pass to mount.

Makkara tries to pass the half guard into mount. Lero knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Makkara is taking a breather. Lero says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Lero looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Lero looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Makkara passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Lero!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Makkara tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Lero is controlling an arm, preventing Makkara from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lero working to try and regain half guard.
Lero is squirming around, avoiding Makkara's attempts to control the action. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Makkara content just to control the position here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lero's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A short right hand to the side of the head by Makkara. Makkara misses with a punch on the inside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nakki Makkara showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Lero doesn't succeed with the takedown and Makkara counters with a lovely straight right hand! Makkara moves into range and clinches up with Lero. Makkara lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Makkara. Makkara throws a punch but it's blocked by Lero.

A short right hand to the side of the head by Makkara. Makkara has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Makkara throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Makkara holding his opponent close, against the cage.

The referee is keeping an eye on Makkara - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Makkara leaning his opponent against the cage. Makkara lands a right hand that snaps the head of Lero backwards. Nakki Makkara is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Lero is rocked! Nakki Makkara seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. Makkara misses with a hook from the clinch. A short right from Makkara on the inside. Makkara tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Makkara works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Makkara lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Taz Lero has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Makkara blocks an uppercut.

And that's the end of the fight! Nakki Makkara comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Makkara has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
