PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ehavoc Dugre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jez Donnely (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Donnely is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Wu Tang Clan-Protect ya Neck. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ehavoc Dugre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Jez Donnely!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Bruno Hogan and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donnely displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dugre.
Good leg kick by Donnely there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Donnely throws a solid leg kick but Dugre takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Donnely.

and Dugre counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Donnely's guard now.

Dugre got a little sloppy there for a moment and Donnely has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dugre has managed to get both his arms back between Donnely's legs - danger averted.

Dugre postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Donnely is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dugre, into his guard.

Dugre working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Donnely doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Donnely manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Dugre has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Donnely can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Donnely scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Donnely stands and steps away. Dugre gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Dugre shoots in and drives through. Donnely sprawls well.

so Dugre counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Donnely finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
A clash of legs there as Dugre blocks the low kick.
Dugre shoots for a double leg takedown but Donnely sprawls well. He's pushed Dugre's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ehavoc Dugre. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Donnely tries to clinch up but Dugre circles away and keeps his distance.
Donnely fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Donnely throws a head kick but Dugre moves out of range.
Donnely lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Dugre shoots in looking for a takedown but Donnely manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dugre's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Dugre will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Donnely lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Dugre!
Dugre gets back to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Donnely decides to stand and escape the position.
A left and a right from Donnely both land. Nice combination.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Donnely fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Dugre stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Donnely.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dugre tries to score a power double leg takedown but Donnely sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dugre somewhat.

Donnely attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Donnely finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Donnely throws a low kick but Dugre moves out of range easily.
Donnely throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Donnely tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Donnely throws a leg kick but Dugre sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Donnely buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Dugre misses with a takedown attempt - Donnely sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Dugre changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Donnely tries to avoid it but Dugre manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Donnely to the ground. Donnely escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Donnely fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Donnely scores with a kick to the midsection.
Donnely tries to close the distance and clinch but Dugre swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Donnely manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Dugre on his heels. He'll look to pass Dugre's guard now, I'm sure.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Donnely accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Donnely decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Dugre has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Donnely avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Donnely is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Donnely escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dugre gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Well Donnely has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
