Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maricio Shogun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Azreal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Maricio Shogun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rob Azreal!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shogun tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Azreal paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Azreal defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Shogun.
Shogun wants to clinch up but Azreal keeps it at a distance.
A head kick misses from Shogun.
Shogun shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Azreal pinned against the cage. Azreal gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Azreal gets a takedown into half guard.

Azreal stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Shogun to get to his feet.

and Azreal counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maricio Shogun. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Shogun can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Azreal controls the pace.
Azreal must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Azreal decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Shogun tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Azreal swivels and escapes.
Shogun tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Azreal paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Azreal shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Azreal was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Azreal connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Azreal takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Shogun is breathing heavily.

Azreal is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Shogun is surviving well by controlling Azreal's body position as best he can.

Azreal's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Azreal looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Shogun is trying desperately to improve position.

Azreal goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Shogun turns into him and now he's in Azreal's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Shogun accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Shogun looks to score with a jab to the body but Azreal is just out of range.
Shogun tries for a takedown but Azreal sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Shogun wants to stand and escape but Azreal is having none of it.

Azreal drops an elbow to the side of Shogun's head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Azreal is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Shogun defends it well.

Azreal gets a takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Well, if Azreal is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Azreal postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Shogun to stand up.

Shogun shoots in but Azreal avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Shogun shoots in for a takedown but Azreal shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maricio Shogun. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Azreal has closed the distance and engaged Shogun in a clinch.

Azreal escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Azreal closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Shogun did well to prevent Azreal getting side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Azreal gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Azreal is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Azreal wants to sweep but no luck.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Shogun tries to stand but Azreal is controlling from the bottom.
Shogun trying to control the position from guard on top but Azreal is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Maricio Shogun has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Azreal is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Shogun's half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rob Azreal showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Shogun's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Azreal has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Azreal is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Azreal is looking for a kimura but Shogun is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Azreal to get the leverage.
Well, if Azreal is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The fighters are battling for position here. Shogun manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Shogun is looking for a sweep. Azreal is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Azreal winds up and cracks Shogun with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Azreal in particular looking to stall.
Azreal thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Shogun's head.
Shogun on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Azreal escapes and gets back to his feet.

Azreal drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Azreal wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Shogun, who protects the arm well.
The referee asks Azreal politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Azreal prefers to stall for the moment though.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Azreal thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rob Azreal comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Azreal has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
