Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tavis Soper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brandon Stark! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Steve Erwin and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stark wants to clinch. Stark looks to clinch and Soper counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Soper advances to half guard. Soper landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Soper lands strikes from half guard. Soper sitting and controlling from the half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This has been an exciting period of action! Stark looks like he's trying to stand up.
Soper slips a nice elbow through Stark's hands, connecting with Stark's forehead. Soper tries to pass the half guard into mount. Stark knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Soper is looking for a kimura but Stark is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Soper to get the leverage. Soper has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Stark defend it? Soper steps over the head and cranks it - Stark is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Soper!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Tavis Soper! A relieved looking Tavis Soper thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
