Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Quelhas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Papov Taaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quelhas comes to the cage accompanied by Chama os Mulekes - Cone Crew Diretoria. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jonathan Quelhas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Papov Taaka! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Thiago Cunha and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quelhas throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Taaka. Quelhas goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Quelhas looks to land a combination. Taaka sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Quelhas moves to clinch but Taaka breaks away and Taaka counters with a nice double leg into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Taaka is figuring out what he wants to do next. Taaka seems to be looking for submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round. Taaka is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Quelhas defends it well. Quelhas looks like he's trying to stand up.
Taaka is figuring out what he wants to do next. Taaka is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Quelhas has managed to free his arm - good work. Taaka is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Taaka moves into full mount! Quelhas won't be happy about that! Taaka sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Taaka looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Taaka won't let Quelhas get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Taaka trying to control but Quelhas is having none of it. Taaka tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Taaka scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Quelhas's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Taaka controlling the position easily from mount. Taaka wants to take his opponent's back but Quelhas doesn't allow it. Taaka looks gassed! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Taaka lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Papov Taaka dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Quelhas looks to land a combination but Taaka avoids it well. Quelhas throws a series of punches but Taaka avoids them all with ease. Quelhas tries to clinch up but Taaka circles away and keeps his distance. Quelhas closes the distance but Taaka moves to the side and Taaka counters with a nice double leg into guard. Taaka is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Taaka works a leg free and moves into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Taaka moves nicely into side control. Taaka tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Taaka has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's one minute gone in the round. Taaka wants to control but Quelhas is keeping him busy. Taaka controls the position. Taaka working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Taaka is breathing heavily. Taaka is looking to take a break and control but Quelhas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Taaka is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Quelhas knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Taaka wants to lay and pray for a moment but Quelhas keeps working.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Quelhas defending against the ground and pound. Quelhas is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Taaka asserts his dominance and retains side control. Taaka wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Quelhas, who protects the arm well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Quelhas wants to get back to his feet but Taaka drags him back down. Taaka wants to control for a moment but Quelhas uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Taaka stops Quelhas from getting back to his feet.
Papov Taaka has got the better of the ground game so far. Taaka is working for a submission of some sort.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Papov Taaka showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Quelhas tries to clinch up but Taaka circles away and keeps his distance. Jonathan Quelhas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Quelhas tries to clinch there but Taaka circles away.
Taaka swats away the attempt to clinch by Quelhas. A punch combination from Quelhas misses. Quelhas lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Taaka circles away quickly and effectively. Quelhas tries to bum rush Taaka with a series of wild strikes but Taaka uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Quelhas scores with a three punch combo!
That's one minute gone in the round. Quelhas closes the distance looking to clinch and Taaka counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Quelhas! Both fighters are breathing heavily. Taaka controlling the pace for now. Taaka is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Quelhas can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Taaka content just to control the position here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Taaka is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Quelhas has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Taaka is landing with some decent strikes but Quelhas is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Taaka content just to control the position here. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Quelhas is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Taaka wants to control the pace but Quelhas is squirming around nicely. Quelhas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Taaka on the ground. Quelhas taking shots to the head. Quelhas wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Taaka.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Taaka content just to control the position here. Quelhas is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Taaka wants to control the pace but Quelhas is squirming around nicely. Taaka is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Quelhas to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Quelhas shrugs it off.
And that's the end of the fight! Papov Taaka comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Taaka winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
