Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dan Henderson!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Smith misses.
Henderson fails with the takedown.
Henderson tries to clinch up
and Smith counters with a one-two to the body.
Smith misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Henderson.
Smith throws an overhand right that lands on Henderson's shoulder, as Henderson tries to avoid the shot.
Henderson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Smith sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Smith misses with an uppercut.
Henderson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Henderson off to one side.
John Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Henderson.
Smith cracks Henderson with an open hand slap.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Henderson.
Henderson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Smith is fending him off so far but Henderson persists. Nope, Smith circles away and we're back to standing.

Smith connects with a single shot there.
Henderson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Smith swivels and escapes.
John Smith is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Smith displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Henderson.
A big right from Smith misses.
Smith clobbers Henderson with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Henderson tries to clinch up
letting Smith counter with a right hand.
Henderson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Henderson throws a head kick that misses.
Henderson looks gassed!
No luck for Henderson with that takedown attempt.
Smith lands a right hook to the body.
Smith connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Henderson's hands.
A jab lands there for Smith.
Smith is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Smith will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Smith tries to bum rush Henderson with a series of wild strikes but Henderson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Henderson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Smith lands a left and a right that send Henderson crashing to the mat, dazed. Smith thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Henderson is rocked!
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith connects with a body shot.
Henderson is trying desperately to land a takedown but Smith is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Henderson.
Smith connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Henderson moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Henderson is still on wobbly legs! Can Smith finish him?
That has opened up Dan Henderson's cut even more.
Henderson on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Smith lands a big right hand that sends Henderson crashing to the mat! Smith stays standing though and waves Henderson back to his feet!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Henderson ducks into an uppercut from Smith and that's knocked him out cold! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). John Smith!
After winning the bout, John Smith thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
