9 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, John McNamara! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McNamara takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. McNamara steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Rourke. That one must have hurt. Rourke shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. McNamara trying to control the position.
Rourke's corner is telling him to maintain position. Rourke trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Rourke swings for the body but McNamara moves out of range.

and McNamara counters with a left and a right that stings Rourke. McNamara waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Rourke. John McNamara is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. No joy there for Rourke, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
McNamara misses with an uppercut. Rourke takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Rourke ducks under a wild hook from McNamara. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McNamara looks to throw the jab but Rourke is out of range. Rourke lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. McNamara ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Rourke misses with an uppercut. McNamara saw that one coming. and McNamara counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rourke wants to slow McNamara down by chopping away at his legs. A swing and a miss from McNamara. Rourke keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from McNamara. Rourke lands with a slapping head kick. McNamara bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Rourke's head backwards. McNamara moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Rourke throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck McNamara on the side of the head. Nice shot by Rourke. Rourke shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Rourke wants to control the pace but McNamara is squirming around nicely. Rourke controlling from the full mount.

McNamara avoids a strike by Rourke and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Rourke's guard! Fantastic escape!
Rourke is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! McNamara is not content to let Rourke control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Rourke misses with a looping right. McNamara misses with a right hand and Rourke makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Rourke lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Rourke throws a hook but McNamara avoids it easily. Rourke cracks the inside of McNamara's front leg. McNamara swings widly with a right hand
and Rourke counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Rourke connects with a leg kick. McNamara looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Rourke tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McNamara was well out of range. Poor timing from Rourke. A big right from Rourke misses. Rourke uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before McNamara has time to react. A jab from McNamara misses. Rourke throws a jab but it's blocked by McNamara. McNamara might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Rourke throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent McNamara stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Rourke lands a nice looking kick to the body. McNamara takes a step back to recover. McNamara keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Rourke. McNamara staying out of range there. McNamara misses with a straight left. McNamara displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rourke throws out the jab. McNamara avoids a punch combination nicely.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Rourke throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McNamara. McNamara stuns Rourke with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Rourke throws a wild combination but nothing lands. McNamara ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Rourke looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Rourke throws a quick head kick that skims the top of McNamara's head. Danga de danga de dang - Rourke scores with a four punch combination! McNamara waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Rourke. McNamara feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Rourkes jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Rourke waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract McNamara. Rourke jabbing away but nothing is landing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rourke scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Rourke wants to lay and pray for a moment but McNamara keeps working. Rourke is trying to get an arm triangle but McNamara is defending well. Rourke tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rourke in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Rourke misses with an attempted head punch from side control. McNamara being controlled for a moment. McNamara wants to get back to his feet. Rourke is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, McNamara has escaped the position, nice work there. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rourke is looking to take a break and control but McNamara is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McNamara has knocked Rourke down with a huge combo! McNamara steps away and waves a wobbly Rourke back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

McNamara throws a shot from downtown. Rourke moves away and avoids it. Rourke throws a lazy right hand but McNamara sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Rourke misses with a straight right. Rourke bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Rourke steps to the side to avoid the strikes from McNamara.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rourke gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and McNamara counters with a straight right hand. Rourke closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. McNamara quickly recovers to half guard. Mikko Rourke overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Rourke thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Rourke missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Rourke seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McNamara does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Rourke thows a huge punch but McNamara dodges it nicely.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rourke connects with a nice short shot to McNamara's temple. Rourke is trying for a kimura here. McNamara looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Rourke wins by kimura!
