Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Hanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Baine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Baine comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Juicy kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Matthew Baine enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Hanson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matthew Baine! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, David Schapiro and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Baine will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Baine drives through with a takedown into guard. Baine missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Hanson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Baine on the ground. Baine stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hanson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Baine trying to control but Hanson is working from the bottom. Baine with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Baine with a flurry of punches that miss. Hanson keeping moving, preventing Baine from controlling successfully. Baine slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Baine loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Baine trying to control the position from guard on top but Hanson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Baine accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Hanson keeping moving, preventing Baine from controlling successfully. Baine has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Baine is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Baine looking to pass the guard. Baine sitting in guard here, content to control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Baine wants to control from the top but Hanson keeps moving.
Matthew Baine has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Baine avoids a punch combination nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Baine throws a half hearted mid kick. Baine scores with a head kick.
James Hanson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hanson is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Baine tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Hanson takes a swing at Baine's ribcage but misses. Baine changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hanson tries to avoid it but Baine manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hanson to the ground. Hanson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Hanson stalks Baine and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Baine's face. Baine staggers backwards, shaken. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A head kick from Baine lands but Hanson takes it in his stride. Hanson throws a right and a left that Baine avoids nicely. Some wild striking there from Hanson.
Hanson is breathing heavily. Hanson's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Hanson duly obliges. Baine avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Baine feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Baine with a flurry of punches that miss. Baine drops back looking for a leg! Hanson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hanson manages to kick Baine off! Baine jumps back into Hanson's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Baine preventing the sweep. Baine content to stall in guard here. Baine's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Baine trying to control the position from guard on top but Hanson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Baine drops back looking for a leg! Hanson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hanson manages to kick Baine off! Baine jumps back into Hanson's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Baine pushing down on Hanson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Baine is trying to control. Hanson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Hanson on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Baine not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Baine is taking a breather. Hanson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Baine thows a huge punch but Hanson dodges it nicely.
Baine not landing any meaningful shots this time. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Baine in particular looking to stall. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matthew Baine dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Baine fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hanson sprawls well initially but Baine persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Baine maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Hanson could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Baine has cracked it and Hanson is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Baine!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Matthew Baine! Matthew Baine was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
