Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anderson Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frederick Finklestein!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva throws a right and a left that Finklestein avoids nicely.
Silva thuds his right hand into Finklestein's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Finklestein tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Silva misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A choreographed right hand from Silva misses the target.
Finklestein throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Silva circles away from the clinch attempt.
Finklestein shoots for a double leg takedown but Silva sprawls well. He's pushed Finklestein's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Finklestein stands and throws Silva's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Finklestein asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Silva on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Silva tries to get out of the position.

Finklestein tries for a kimura but Silva is defending well.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Silva tries to improve position but can't.
Silva is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Finklestein on the ground.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Finklestein cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Silva is looking to improve his position but Finklestein isn't that keen on the idea.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Silva scores with a decent looking hook.
Finklestein rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Silva moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Silva throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Finklestein counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Silva gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Finklestein.

Silva tries to break the clinch but Finklestein is controlling the position.
Finklestein lands an elbow inside that Silva shrugs off.

Finklestein escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Silva throws a good cross that connects.
Silva stalks Finklestein and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Finklestein's face. Finklestein staggers backwards, shaken.

and Finklestein counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Silva utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Silva controlling the position.
Silva looking to hit a scissor sweep but Finklestein is one step ahead there.
Silva avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Finklestein trying to control the position from guard on top but Silva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Silva throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Finklestein holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Silva wants to get back to striking at distance but Finklestein won't allow it.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Finklestein lands a nice short elbow.
