PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bobbo Sappo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dj Embe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Embe comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Hostile Mass kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bobbo Sappo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dj Embe!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sappo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Sappo tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Embe should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Sappo doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Embe tries to free his leg and advance position but Sappo is retaining full guard.
Sappo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Embe's guard.
Embe is pulling down on Sappo's head. It's preventing any offense from Sappo, at least for the moment.
Sappo wants to pass the guard but Embe is keeping the position.
Sappo wants to control from the top but Embe keeps moving.
Embe not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Sappo stopping the sweep attempt from Embe.
Sappo scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sappo working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Embe holds on and takes a little breather.

Sappo drops back, looking for a kneebar! Embe looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Embe looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Embe!
Sappo tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Sappo is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Embe's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Embe trying to pass the guard but Sappo defending well.
Sappo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Sappo wants to get back to full guard.
Sappo tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Sappo looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Sappo is breathing heavily.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Sappo with a poor takedown

and Embe decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sappo's guard.

Embe gets to his feet. Sappo looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Embe clinches.

Embe tightens his grip and picks Sappo up, before dumping him to the ground. Sappo manages to land in guard.
Sappo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Embe looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Embe postures up in Sappo's guard and throws a big left but Sappo blocks it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Embe preventing the sweep.

Embe stands and steps away. Sappo gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Embe fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sappo sprawls well initially but Embe persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Sappo wants to improve his position but Embe is controlling well.
Embe seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sappo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Embe controlling the pace.
Sappo tries to get to full guard but Embe has control of the leg.
Embe wants to take a breather but Sappo is having none of it.
Embe controlling the action here.
Embe prevents Sappo from improving his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Embe is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sappo is just riding it out for now. Embe eventually gives up the hold.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Sappo fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Embe to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Embe looks to clinch but Sappo throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Embe taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Bobbo Sappo!
