And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Aldo!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Lou da Vinci and Columbo Gatti.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paulista defending well as Aldo loads up on a big left hand.
Aldo lands a nice looking body shot.
Aldo misses the shot to the body.
Aldo keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Paulista wants to clinch up but Aldo keeps it at a distance.
Aldo looks to land a left hand but Paulista moved out of range nicely.
Paulista tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Aldo counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Paulista moves to clinch but Aldo breaks away
enabling Aldo to counter with a crisp jab.
A jab from Aldo misses.
Paulista wants to clinch but Aldo slips to the side
and Aldo counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

and Paulista takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Aldo counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Paulista takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Paulista uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Aldo.
Paulista tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Paulista swings for the body but Aldo moves out of range.

and Aldo counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Aldo misses with a wild body shot.
Paulista tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Aldo counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Paulista misses with a right hand
and Aldo connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Paulista misses with an uppercut. Aldo saw that one coming.
Paulista tries to clinch but Aldo is having none of it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Aldo scores with a hook to the body. Paulista takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Aldo lands with an uppercut that bounces Paulista off the cage and back into range.
Paulista fails with the takedown.

Paulista lands with an overhand left.
Paulista's corner calls for a 1-2. Paulista obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Paulista wants to clinch up but Aldo keeps it at a distance.
Jose Aldo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Aldo feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Paulistas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Paulista darts in trying to clinch
and Aldo counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Paulista gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Paulista is rocked!
Nice body punch from Aldo.
Oh Paulista is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

and Aldo counters with a left to the body.
Paulista seems to have got his legs back now.
Paulista bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Decent striking displayed by Aldo there.

and Aldo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Aldo cracks Paulista with a right hand to the side of the head.
Paulista is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Aldo moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jose Aldo!
Jose Aldo spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
