Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Blaze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blaze comes to the cage accompanied by The Dropkick Murphys-The Warriors Code. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Blaze! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Smith! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Blaze shoots for a double leg takedown but Smith sprawls well. He's pushed Blaze's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Blaze misses with a takedown attempt - Smith sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Blaze throws a quick inside leg kick. Blaze throws a nice looking combination but Smith bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Blaze fails to land with a series of punches.
Smith connects with a good right hand that stumbles Blaze. Blaze circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Blaze fails with an attempt to clinch.
Blaze wants to clinch. Blaze throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Smith doesn't manage to clinch there - Blaze circles away.
Blaze takes one to the side of the head.
Smith scores with a jab to the jaw. Blaze tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smith paws at him with a jab and circles away. Blaze tries to clinch up and Smith holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Smith takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Blaze wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Smith misses with a punch on the inside.
Smith has Blaze pushed against the cage. Blaze is trying to break free. Smith changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Blaze fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Smith misses with a hook. Blaze ducked under it nicely. Blaze has his takedown stuffed and Smith counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Smith. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Blaze. That's going to take a lot out of him. Smith is in close to Blaze's body, working some short punches and elbows. Blaze looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smith is one step ahead there. Smith working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Blaze escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Smith stopping the sweep attempt from Blaze. Smith wants to control from the top but Blaze keeps moving. Smith won't allow Blaze to get back to his feet. Blaze looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smith is one step ahead there. Smith must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Blaze closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Blaze lands in his opponent's guard. Blaze stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Blaze looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Blaze won't allow Smith to sweep him here. Smith is trying to keep Blaze in close.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Smith trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Smith has momentary wrist control but Blaze slips an elbow through the middle.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Smith drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Blaze misses with a strike from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Blaze is not content to let Smith control the position. Check out the look on Smith's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Smith looks gassed! Blaze wants to control but Smith postures up. Smith working the body and head with strikes. Blaze can't do much from the bottom here. Blaze sneaks back into half guard. Blaze gets back to full guard.

Ryan Smith dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Blaze fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. The fight stays on the outside here - Blaze looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Blaze lets loose with a powerful body kick. Smith will feel that in the morning. A big left from Smith misses. Blaze looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Smith will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Blaze closes the distance but Smith moves to the side and Smith counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Smith. Smith has a couple of punches blocked by Blaze.

That's one minute gone in the round. Smith is trying to maintain a safe position but Blaze gets an underhook and turns Smith into the cage. Smith working some nice short punches in the clinch. Smith swings away with an uppercut that misses.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Smith. Blaze breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Blaze scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Smith tries to get back to half guard but can't. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smith tries to bench press Blaze off him but Blaze keeps the position. Blaze tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Blaze has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smith can do anything to dispel that myth. Blaze creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Blaze trying to control the position but Smith is working away. Blaze controls the position. Smith manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Blaze wants to improve his position but Smith is controlling well.
Blaze is not content to let Smith control the position. Smith is pressing down on Blaze's thigh, looking to free his foot. Blaze is holding on for now. Blaze slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Smith preventing the sweep. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Johnny Blaze dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Blaze takes one on the button. Johnny Blaze seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Smith pushes Blaze up against the cage in a clinch. Blaze tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Smith just stands there and leans against the cage. Smith leaning his opponent against the cage. Blaze has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Smith is trying to keep an underhook but Blaze manages to get the takedown into half guard. Smith makes his way to full guard, as Blaze worked for a kimura.
Smith lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Blaze! Smith looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Smith avoids the attempt from Blaze to control. Blaze taking shots to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Blaze is bucking up trying to escape but Smith cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Oh Blaze is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Smith lands a big shot to the head and Blaze winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
