Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, George St Peirre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Billy Driver!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Colin Fray and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Driver shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Peirre counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Peirre.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Peirre landing with the ground and pound.
Driver can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Peirre controls the pace.
Peirre content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Driver keeping moving, preventing Peirre from controlling successfully.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Peirre's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Peirre stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Driver swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Peirre shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Driver defends it nicely.
Driver keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Peirre has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Peirre tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Peirre has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Peirre wants to lay and pray for a moment but Driver keeps working.
Driver avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Peirre.

Peirre is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Driver defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Peirre lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Driver hold on?!

Peirre shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Driver napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Peirre moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Driver has worked his arm free - good work by Driver!

Peirre works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Driver is not content to let Peirre control the position.
Driver is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peirre shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Driver but Driver pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Peirre is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Driver can do to turn this around?

Peirre has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Driver regains guard immediately.

Peirre has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Driver's face.

Peirre lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Peirre goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Driver is on top in guard.

Peirre pushes Driver off and gets back to his feet.

Driver wants to clinch.

Peirre shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Peirre was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Peirre postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Driver looks a forlorn figure.
Driver is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Peirre looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Peirre scores with a couple of good head shots there.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Peirre is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Driver can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Driver takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Driver is looking to improve his position but Peirre isn't that keen on the idea.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Driver is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

And that's the end of the fight!
George St Peirre showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Peirre has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

George St Peirre decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
