Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
27 - 12 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Villi Kotobalavu! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Easy Goin! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice shot by Kotobalavu. Kotobalavu throws a chopping leg kick but Goin manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Kotobalavu checks a leg kick. Goin takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Kotobalavu lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Goin throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Kotobalavu throws a low kick but Goin avoids it. Goin tries to land a leg kick but Kotobalavu saw it coming and moves away.
Kotobalavu closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Kotobalavu is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Goin is defending against the submission attempts here by Kotobalavu.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kotobalavu working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Kotobalavu is keen to just control but Goin is a slippery customer.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Kotobalavu is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Kotobalavu passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Goin! Kotobalavu tries to control but Goin wriggling away. Kotobalavu lands a big elbow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kotobalavu trying to control but Goin is having none of it. Kotobalavu is landing with some decent strikes but Goin is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Kotobalavu swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Villi Kotobalavu!
