PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dirty Randy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Braz Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Braz Serra told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dirty Randy!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Braz Serra!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Serra tries for a takedown but Randy circles away easily

and Randy decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Serra's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Serra throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Randy manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Serra on his heels. He'll look to pass Serra's guard now, I'm sure.
Serra thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Serra has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Randy seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Randy decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Serra, up you get!
Nice uppercut lands for Serra. That snapped Randy's head back.


It looks like Dirty Randy has been cut.
Serra tries to clinch up but Randy circles away and keeps his distance.

Randy throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Serra tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Randy is in Serra's guard.
Serra manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Randy is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Randy sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Serra working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Randy wants to control but Serra is keeping busy.

Serra is looking to take a break and control but Randy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Serra thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Serra throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Serra working over Randy with some ground and pound. Randy looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Braz Serra is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Serra stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Randy swivels though and keeps the full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Braz Serra comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Serra has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
