Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marshall Dickson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Craig Arnel!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arnel feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Arnel looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Dickson is looking for a triangle but Arnel pushes his legs off easily.
Dickson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Dickson tries to strike from the bottom.
Dickson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Arnel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Arnel manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Dickson striking off his back but it's not causing Arnel any problems.
Dickson isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Arnel stacks Dickson on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Arnel!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dickson can't do much from the bottom here.

Arnel is looking to take a break and control but Dickson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dickson is trying to buck Arnel off.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Dickson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Dickson wants to control but Arnel is keeping him busy.
Dickson works his foot free and advances to mount.
Arnel tries to hold on but Dickson postures up.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Dickson is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Arnel is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Arnel flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Dickson anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Arnel and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Dickson slips an arm under Arnel chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Dickson has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Dickson is squeezing on Arnel like an anaconda would it's prey. Arnel fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Marshall Dickson!
