The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Winston Howard and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pearson closes the distance and lands a one-two.

That was a close round but I would say that Nick Pearson will probably get the nod.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pearson tries to close the distance and clinch but Laine swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Pearson counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Laine is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Nick Pearson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A nice leg kick lands there from Pearson.
Laine avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
No luck for Laine with that takedown attempt.
Pearson lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Pearson throws a head kick that half lands.
Good leg kick by Pearson there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Horrible takedown by Laine or perhaps it was just good defense by Pearson which made him look bad.
Pearson tries to clinch up but Laine circles away and keeps his distance.

Pearson bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Laine's head.
Laine takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Pearson stuffs the takedown attempt from Laine. Laine gets slowly back to his feet.
Laine takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Nick Pearson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Pearson slaps away a takedown attempt from Laine, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Laine takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Laine takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Pearson cracks Laine with an open hand slap.

and Laine counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pearson won't be happy with that.
Pearson manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Laine takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pearson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Laine is working away from the top position though.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Pearson dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

Laine shoots in and drives through. Pearson sprawls well.

Laine gets the takedown into side control.
Pearson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Laine wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Laine wants to take a breather but Pearson manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Laine.

Laine really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pearson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Laine is pressing down on Pearson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Pearson is holding on for now.
Pearson is controlling Laine's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Laine prevents Pearson from standing back up.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Laine connects with a nice short shot to Pearson's temple.

Pearson is not content to let Laine control the position.

Ilmari Laine comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Pearson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
