Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Mashinko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sebastien Servia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mike Mashinko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sebastien Servia! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Servia misses with a double jab.
Mashinko shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Servia pinned against the cage. Servia gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Servia uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Mashinko has time to react. Mashinko gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Servia counters with a leg kick. Servia scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Servia throws a head kick that misses. Servia looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Servia stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Servia wants it to stay on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Mashinko. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mashinko takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Servia throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Mashinko gets a double leg takedown into Servia's guard. This has been an exciting period of action! The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Servia tries to land a sweep but no joy. Servia scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Nice sprawl there from Servia as Mashinko shoots in.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mashinko takes a kick to the side of the head. Mashinko tries for a takedown but Servia sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Servia misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mashinko misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Mashinko with a poor takedown and Servia counters with a big head kick but Mashinko shrugs it off. Servia gets a clinch. Servia's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Servia moves into range and clinches up with Mashinko. Mashinko blocks an elbow strike. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Servia obliges. Mashinko is breathing heavily. Servia breaks the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Servia gets in close and instigates a clinch. Servia pushes off an throws an elbow but Mashinko leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Servia pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Mashinko tries to score a power double leg takedown but Servia sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mashinko somewhat. Servia gets a clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mashinko avoids the elbow strike from Servia, against the cage.
Servia breaks the clinch.
Servia connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Mashinko on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Servia. Servia obviously looking to wear him down.
Servia misses with a body kick. Mashinko fails with the takedown. Servia closes the distance and pushes Mashinko back into the cage. Servia escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Servia throws a head kick but Mashinko moves out of range.
Servia misses with a body kick. Servia clinches up against the cage. Mashinko has Servia pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Mashinko pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Servia tumbling to the mat - Mashinko dives into Servia's guard. Servia is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mashinko works a leg free and moves into half guard. Servia really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mashinko. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Mashinko has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Servia defend it? Mashinko steps over the head and cranks it - Servia is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Mashinko!
