The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Micheangelo Fripello and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sway gets caught flat footed, as Mondella shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Sway is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Mondella trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Mondella is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Mondella gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Sway tries to sprawl but Mondella drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Mondella seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Sway for as long as he can get away with.

Mondella's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Mondella changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sway looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mondella bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
You can see the frustration on Sway's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Sway is a very stocky fighter. Infact he's such a weird shape that he's almost like some sort of comedy character - it's hard to believe he's real.

Mondella wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sway, who protects the arm well.

Mondella tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mondella has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mondella seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Mondella shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sway pinned against the cage. Sway gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Sway has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mondella uses from the top position.
