Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Better (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Prince Melo Gapuz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Better kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Hero of War. Eddie Better could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Prince Melo Gapuz's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eddie Better! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Prince Melo Gapuz! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, John Mangel and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Better tries to clinch up. Gapuz looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Better is looking to score with low kicks. Better fails with an attempt to clinch.
Better stuffs the takedown attempt from Gapuz. Gapuz gets slowly back to his feet. Better closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Better lands in his opponent's guard. Better connects with a couple of short punches. Better lands a couple of digs. Better looking to sit in guard and control but Gapuz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Gapuz is fighting to break Better's control of his arms but Better is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Better is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Better wants to stand up but Gapuz is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Better trying to control from half guard but Gapuz is working away. Better tries to pass to full mount but Gapuz defends it. Gapuz is staying active underneath Better, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Gapuz makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gapuz. Gapuz is working an open guard so Better takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Better takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Gapuz fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Better, pushing him back against the cage. Better wants a takedown but no success here.
Gapuz manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Better is looking to stand up but Gapuz won't let him. Better works a leg free and moves into half guard. Better seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gapuz can do anything to dispel that myth. Better wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gapuz keeps working. Gapuz throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Better has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Better trying to control but Gapuz is having none of it. Better fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Better lands with some strikes. Gapuz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Better. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gapuz is desperately trying to improve his position but Better has a good base and remains in mount. Gapuz wants to hold on but Better pushes him away. Better putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Better trying to control but he's not successful this time. Better connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Gapuz is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Better looking to control but Gapuz is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Better fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Better landing strikes from the mount and Gapuz is in trouble! Gapuz is wriggling around trying to escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Better postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Gapuz looks a forlorn figure.
Better looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Better landing strikes, looking to finish! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gapuz takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Better cracks Gapuz with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Better has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Better fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Better is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Gapuz can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Gapuz is trying desperately to improve position. Gapuz is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Better cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Eddie Better dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Better wants to clinch but Gapuz slips to the side and Gapuz counters by moving into the clinch. Better wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Gapuz blocks an elbow strike. Better wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gapuz has him pressed against the cage. Better drags the fight down to the ground.
Better pushes Gapuz off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Better lands a head kick!
Gapuz is rocked! Eddie Better seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A head kick by Better - that's a beauty! Gapuz is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Better can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Eddie Better!
