Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lucky Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernandes el Maya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). el Maya has chosen Mr. president-Coco jambo as his entrance music. Lucky Griffin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fernandes el Maya!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
el Maya looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
el Maya keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Griffin unloads with some shots from mount but el Maya bucks and avoids them well.
Griffin trying to control but he's not successful this time.
el Maya wants to control but Griffin is having none of it.
el Maya really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Griffin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Griffin throws a strike there. el Maya manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.
el Maya is refusing to be controlled, as Griffin sits in half guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Griffin is trying to control the action in half guard but el Maya is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
el Maya is looking for a sweep. Griffin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Griffin throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by el Maya.
Griffin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
el Maya circles away from the clinch attempt.
Fernandes el Maya seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Griffin is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Griffin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says el Maya as he avoids it easily.
Griffin shoots for a double leg takedown but el Maya sprawls well. He's pushed Griffin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Griffin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. el Maya tries to avoid it but Griffin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag el Maya to the ground. el Maya escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and el Maya counters with a big head kick but Griffin shrugs it off.
Horrible takedown by Griffin or perhaps it was just good defense by el Maya which made him look bad.

and Griffin counters with a head kick. That will keep el Maya thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Griffin is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
el Maya manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
el Maya lands an elbow inside that Griffin shrugs off.
el Maya keeps control of Griffin as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

el Maya lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Griffin backwards.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

el Maya throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Griffin blocks it with crossed arms.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
el Maya lands a nice elbow.
Griffin has had enough of the clinch but el Maya keeps him there for the moment.
The is referee keeping an eye on el Maya - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Griffin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Lucky Griffin will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Griffin has managed to clinch.
Griffin is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. el Maya gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

el Maya avoids the elbow strike from Griffin, against the ropes.
Griffin ties up his opponent against the ropes and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Griffin no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Griffin lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for el Maya!

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Griffin is working for a guillotine from mount but el Maya frees his head quite easily.

Poor strikes thrown by Griffin there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lucky Griffin.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Griffin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
