The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cottrell shoots in looking for a takedown. Ryan tries to sprawl out of it but Cottrell keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ryan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ryan shoots in and drives through. Cottrell sprawls well.
Cottrell misses the jab.
Ryan stuffs the takedown.
Cottrell circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cottrell looking to score a takedown here. Ryan is defending well but Cottrell drives through and ends up in Ryan's guard.
Cottrell engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Cottrell pushes down on Ryan's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Cottrell uses his free foot to push down on Ryan's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ryan.
Ryan tries to hold on but Cottrell pushes him away.
Ryan is trying to stand.

Cottrell is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Ryan has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Cottrell has hold of Ryan's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Ryan manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Ryan is trying desperately to improve position.
Cottrell stands up from mount. Strange move.
Cottrell shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Cottrell in particular looking to stall.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cottrell moves nicely into side control.
Cottrell in side control, just content to control the action for now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cottrell stands up and beckons Ryan to his feet.
Cottrell throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Cottrell fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ryan manages to avoid it.
Cottrell fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Cottrell shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Cottrell was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ryan wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Ryan is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Cottrell is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Ryan has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Well, with Cottrell on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Ryan is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
Ryan is keeping busy.
Cottrell has got one arm under Ryan's chin. This could be trouble... Ryan trying to control the other hand but Cottrell gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Ryan has tapped out! The fight is over!
