Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Carl Gregson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Gregson might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Let The Bodies Hit The Floor by Drowning Pool . Alex Rivera will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carl Gregson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Rivera! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gregson gets in close and instigates a clinch. Gregson is trying to break the clinch but Rivera has him pressed against the cage. Rivera jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gregson walks away with a smile on his face. Rivera gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Rivera shoots in looking for a takedown. Gregson tries to sprawl out of it but Rivera keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gregson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Gregson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rivera did well to prevent Gregson getting side control. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Rivera looking for submissions off his back. Gregson wants to pass the guard but Rivera is defending well. Gregson working Rivera over with strikes. Gregson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rivera sees it coming and defends easily. Rivera wants to get back to full guard. Rivera actively working from the bottom here. Rivera is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gregson pulls his head out easily. Rivera looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rivera tries to roll over but Gregson keeps him under control. Rivera is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Gregson is keen to just control but Rivera is a slippery customer. Rivera looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Gregson working for a guillotine from mount but Rivera is in no mood to give up. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Rivera gets back to half guard. Rivera actively working from the bottom here. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rivera looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Gregson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Gregson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gregson passes the guard and advances to mount! Gregson prevents Rivera from getting the reversal. Gregson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Rivera can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Gregson punishing his opponent with strikes. Rivera keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gregson controlling the pace for now. Gregson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Rivera can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rivera is trying desperately to improve position. Gregson content just to control the position here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rivera has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gregson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rivera sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gregson somewhat. Rivera shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gregson pinned against the cage. Gregson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Gregson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gregson wants it to stay on the feet. Rivera shoots in looking for a takedown. Gregson tries to sprawl out of it but Rivera keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gregson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Carl Gregson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Rivera. Gregson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rivera changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gregson tries to avoid it but Rivera manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gregson to the ground. Gregson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Gregson stuffs the takedown.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rivera gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gregson to score an easy takedown into full guard. Gregson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Rivera working for a triangle but Gregson defends it easily.
Rivera is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gregson is aware though and is defending well. Rivera has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gregson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Rivera keeping full guard, as Gregson tries to pass. Gregson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Gregson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gregson passes Rivera's right leg, so he's now in half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gregson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Gregson is looking to defend but Rivera has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Gregson! Rivera pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Gregson taps out and this one is all over!
