Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Alberto Del Rio! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Condor Axe! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Atkins and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Axe looks to score with a jab to the body but Del Rio is just out of range. Del Rio keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Axe. Axe leaves Del Rio with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Axe scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Axe shoots for a takedown but Del Rio saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Axe looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Del Rio! The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Axe looking to land elbow strikes but Del Rio uses the position to regain half guard. Axe seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Del Rio does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Del Rio works his way to full guard. Good work. Del Rio controlling the position. Axe sitting in guard, not really doing much. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Axe accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Axe wants to control from the top but Del Rio keeps moving. Del Rio can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Axe controls the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. Let's hope that Axe has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Condor Axe. A big left from Axe misses. Axe's jab looks to have found its range, popping Del Rio under the eye. Axe misses with a straight right. Del Rio looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Axe is fending him off so far but Del Rio persists. Nope, Axe circles away and we're back to standing. Del Rio shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Del Rio showed some decent athleticism there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Axe is staying active underneath Del Rio, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Axe wants to get back to full guard but Del Rio has passed into side control. Del Rio sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Axe is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Del Rio working the strikes but Axe uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Axe tries to get to full guard but Del Rio has control of the leg. Axe is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Del Rio really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Del Rio is pressing down on Axe's thigh, looking to free his foot. Axe is holding on for now. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Del Rio looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Del Rio thows a huge punch but Axe dodges it nicely.
Del Rio misses with a head shot. Axe uses the momentum to regain guard. Del Rio trying to control but Axe is working from the bottom. Del Rio throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Axe works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Del Rio wants to control from the top but Axe keeps moving. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Axe can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Axe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Del Rio's guard. Del Rio working a defensive guard here.
Axe working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Del Rio's head. Axe's corner is telling him to maintain position. Del Rio has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Del Rio is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Axe is controlling him. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Axe won't allow Del Rio to sweep him here. Axe throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Del Rio working a defensive guard here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Condor Axe will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Del Rio looking to score a takedown here. Axe is defending well but Del Rio drives through and ends up in Axe's guard. Del Rio trying to control the position from guard on top but Axe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Del Rio with a flurry of punches that miss. Axe keeping moving, preventing Del Rio from controlling successfully. Axe wants to sweep here but Del Rio controlling him for the moment. Del Rio looking to control the position here, rather than advance. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Axe keeping moving, preventing Del Rio from controlling successfully. Del Rio will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

We're going to have a standup here because Alberto Del Rio wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Axe. Alberto Del Rio is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Del Rio shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Del Rio tries to move into range but Axe moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Axe tests Del Rio's chin there with a solid looking shot. Del Rio avoids a punch combination nicely.
Del Rio dives in and grabs Axe's left leg, looking for a takedown. Axe pushes down on Del Rio's head and hops out. Axe fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Axe works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Del Rio tries to close the distance and clinch up but Axe swats him away and circles back towards the center. Alberto Del Rio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Del Rio stuffs the takedown. Axe lands with an uppercut that bounces Del Rio off the cage and back into range. Del Rio looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alberto Del Rio. That's going to take a lot out of him. Axe drives through with a takedown into guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Axe trying to control but Del Rio is working from the bottom. Axe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Del Rio swivels though and keeps the full guard. Axe looking to sit in guard and control but Del Rio gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Axe is pulling down on Del Rio's head. It's preventing any offense from Del Rio, at least for the moment. Del Rio controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Axe utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Axe is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Alberto Del Rio overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Axe wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Del Rio slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Condor Axe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
No luck for Del Rio with that takedown attempt. Del Rio takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Del Rio stuffs the takedown. Del Rio takes a shot to the body in his stride.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Del Rio fails with the takedown so Axe counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Axe looking to sit in guard and control but Del Rio gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Del Rio throws an elbow that misses. Axe uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Del Rio's guard. Nice move by Axe!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Del Rio looking for a guillotine here but Axe defends easily.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Axe's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Axe wants to control from the top but Del Rio keeps moving. Axe might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Del Rio kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Axe trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Axe preventing the sweep. Axe tries to free his leg and advance position but Del Rio is retaining full guard. Axe loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Axe is stalling in the full guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
OK we're going to have a standup here. Condor Axe hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Del Rio moves out of range as Axe strikes. Del Rio tries to close the distance and clinch but Axe swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Del Rio gets in close and instigates a clinch. Del Rio tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Axe just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Axe lands a left hand.
Axe tries to work over Del Rio's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Axe looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Del Rio blocks a body shot from Axe. Axe tries to throw a body punch but Del Rio avoids it by throwing Axe back against the cage. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Axe scores with a shoulder strike. Alberto Del Rio has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Del Rio is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Axe gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
And that's the end of the fight! Condor Axe comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Axe has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
