Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cole River!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Steve Dowal!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Colin Fray and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from River as Dowal shoots in.
River keeps the fight on the outside.
Dowal fails with the takedown.
River looks for the body kick but Dowal saw that one coming.
Dowal's jab looks to have found its range, popping River under the eye.

Dowal drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Dowal drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and River dives on top into guard.
River stopping the sweep attempt from Dowal.
River is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
River has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Dowal is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and River defends well.
Dowal is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Cole River.
River throws a low kick but Dowal avoids it.
Dowal bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Cole River is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
River misses with a body shot.
Steve Dowal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

River moves into the clinch successfully.
River struggles to land a body shot inside as Dowal controls his hands.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Dowal looking to stall.
River prevents a takedown attempt there.
Cole River has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Dowal.

River breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
River fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Dowal is out of range.
Dowal shoots in looking for a takedown. River tries to sprawl out of it but Dowal keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. River manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
River with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
River dodges the punch combination from Dowal.
River keeps the fight on the outside.
Dowal scores with a one two! River had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Dowal dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
River stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and River wants it to stay on the feet.
River moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Nice defenses there by River.
Dowal connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed River momentarily.
Dowal throws a leg kick but River sees it coming and checks it nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dowal takes one on the chin but seems OK.
River connects with a crisp jab.
Dowal moves to clinch but River breaks away
and River counters with a stiff right hand.


Dowal is rocked!
Dowal misses with a takedown attempt
and River counters with a big left hand that crumples Dowal! He was out before he hit the floor! Brutal knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Cole River!
Cole River retains his welterweight title!
An out of breath and clearly excited Cole River thanked Just Fight for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
