Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kota Punga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikademus Sinclair (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Punga comes into the arena with who let the dogs out blaring out of the sound system. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kota Punga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nikademus Sinclair!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Punga takes one to the side of the head.
Punga misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Punga.
No joy there for Sinclair, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Punga walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Sinclair just misses with a punch to the body.
Sinclair digs a good hook to Punga's body.
Sinclair lands with a shot to the body.
Sinclair sizes up Punga with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Sinclair punishes Punga's body with a nice straight punch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Punga is defended easily by Sinclair.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kota Punga. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sinclair stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sinclair wants it to stay on the feet.
Punga tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sinclair sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Punga somewhat.

Punga on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Sinclair checks a leg kick.
Nikademus Sinclair is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Sinclair lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Sinclair.
Sinclair keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Punga looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Punga shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Punga ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sinclair moves away.
Sinclair thuds a left hand into Punga's body.
Sinclair with a nice cross.
Kota Punga seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sinclair moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Sinclair jabs Punga to the body, keeping him at a distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sinclair lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Punga keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Punga gets a double leg takedown into Sinclair's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Punga stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sinclair swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sinclair has control of Punga's left arm, preventing Punga from doing any damage.
Punga wants to control from the top but Sinclair keeps moving.

Sinclair wants to get back to his feet but Punga is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Punga passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.
Sinclair avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Punga.
Punga prevents Sinclair from improving his position.

Punga is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sinclair doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Punga.
Punga is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sinclair tries to reverse the position but Punga maintains control.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Punga is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Sinclair is surviving well by controlling Punga's body position as best he can.

Punga with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Sinclair tries to reverse the position but Punga maintains control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Punga wants to finish this one by submission but Sinclair is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Punga.
Punga avoids the attempt from Sinclair to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nikademus Sinclair dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Sinclair avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sinclair lands a jab.
Punga takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Punga fails with a takedown attempt.

Punga throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Sinclair tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Punga is in Sinclair's guard.

Punga is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sinclair has managed to free his arm - good work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sinclair is trying to control but can't.

Sinclair really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Punga. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Punga has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Sinclair defend it? Punga steps over the head and cranks it - Sinclair is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Punga!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kota Punga!
An out of breath Kota Punga thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
