PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ray Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marian Krupnik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Krupnik has chosen The Dreadnoughts - Sleep is for the Weak as his entrance music. Ray Stone could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Marian Krupnik's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ray Stone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marian Krupnik!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Wagner Zegers and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stone darts in and clinches Krupnik up against the cage.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Stone.
Krupnik wants to break free but Stone has control.

Stone's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Stone closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Krupnik quickly recovers to half guard.
Stone wants to pass to mount but Krupnik is defending the position.
Krupnik manages to get to full guard.
Krupnik looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Stone forces his way into half guard.
Stone is controlling the pace.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Krupnik regains full guard. Nicely done.
Stone is looking to work some ground and pound but Krupnik has wrist control.
Krupnik wants to stand up but Stone is controlling him.

Stone gets to his feet - Krupnik follows without any prompting.

Stone clinches up against the cage.
Krupnik managing to block the knees to the body from Stone.
Krupnik is trying to force a seperation but Stone has the dominant position.
Stone goes for a takedown in the clinch but Krupnik prevents it.
Stone tries to pull guard but Krupnik won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Stone breaks from the clinch.
Stone changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Krupnik tries to avoid it but Stone manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Krupnik to the ground. Krupnik escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ray Stone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Stone tries to clinch there but Krupnik circles away.
Marian Krupnik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stone swats away the attempt to clinch by Krupnik.
Horrible takedown by Krupnik or perhaps it was just good defense by Stone which made him look bad.

Stone has taken the fight to the clinch.
Stone digs a right hand underneath Krupnik's ribcage. Krupnik let out a lung full of air as it connected.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Krupnik working aggressively here.
Krupnik can't break the clinch.
Stone has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Krupnik is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Still in the clinch, Stone scores with a nice short uppercut.

Stone breaks from the clinch.
Stone plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Krupnik throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Stone counters by moving into the clinch.

Stone breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Stone lands a big head kick that sends Krupnik tumbling to the mat! Stone takes a step backwards and waves Krupnik back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Krupnik is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Krupnik wants to clinch up but Stone keeps it at a distance.
Krupnik is still on wobbly legs! Can Stone finish him?
A big right from Krupnik misses.

Stone clinches with his opponent.
Krupnik is looking to break free of the clinch but Stone has double underhooks.
Krupnik wants to break the clinch but can't.
Krupnik misses with the head strike.
Krupnik gets underhooks to prevent Stone's takedown attempt.
Krupnik seems to have recovered his senses.
Krupnik looking to slow down the pace here.
Krupnik is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Stone's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Krupnik has had enough of the clinch but Stone keeps him there for the moment.

Stone has managed to clinch.
Stone goes for a takedown in the clinch but Krupnik prevents it.
Krupnik wants to break free but Stone has control.
Stone changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Krupnik fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Horrible takedown by Krupnik or perhaps it was just good defense by Stone which made him look bad.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Stone moves into the clinch.
Stone tries to score a body lock takedown but Krupnik shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Stone breaks the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ray Stone dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Krupnik gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Krupnik wants to break free but Stone has control.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Stone as Krupnik tries to tie him up.
Krupnik misses with a hook from the clinch.
Stone tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Krupnik smiles and moves away.
Ray Stone is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stone will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Krupnik tries to clinch but Stone is having none of it.
Krupnik with a jab.
Stone throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Krupnik's waist but Krupnik gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stone off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ray Stone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Stone!

Stone moves into the clinch.
Stone has Krupnik pressed against the cage, preventing Krupnik from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Krupnik is trying to force a seperation but Stone has the dominant position.

Stone slows down the pace here.
Krupnik blocks the elbow strike.
Krupnik tries to break free but Stone pushes him back against the cage.
Stone fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Stone tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Krupnik smiles and moves away.
Stone shoots in looking for a takedown. Krupnik tries to sprawl out of it but Stone keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Krupnik manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Krupnik throws an off balance right hand

and Stone counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Stone keeps control of Krupnik as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Krupnik has had enough of the clinch but Stone keeps him there for the moment.

Stone manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Krupnik stops Stone from standing up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Krupnik is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Stone striking from the bottom.
Krupnik working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Krupnik with a flurry of punches that miss.
Krupnik forces his way into half guard.
Krupnik looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Stone with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Krupnik has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Krupnik is working for a submission of some sort.

Krupnik is just content to waste time from the top position. Stone takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Krupnik lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Stone is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Krupnik defends well.
Krupnik is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Krupnik pushes down on Stone's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Marian Krupnik has got the better of the ground game so far.
Stone trying to hold on to Krupnik's head to control him but Krupnik postures up.
Krupnik landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Stone knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Krupnik on the ground.
Krupnik is thwarting Stone's attempts to control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Krupnik is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stone wants to control but Krupnik is keeping busy and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marian Krupnik showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Krupnik stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Krupnik tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Krupnik tries to clinch but Stone moves out of range.
Krupnik stuffs the takedown.
Stone throws a nice head kick!
Stone wants to clinch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Krupnik.
Krupnik throws a shot from downtown. Stone moves away and avoids it.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Stone shoots for a double leg takedown but Krupnik sprawls well. He's pushed Stone's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ray Stone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Krupnik tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Stone swivels and escapes.

Stone thuds his shin into the meat of Krupnik's side.

Stone clinches up against the cage.
Krupnik has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Krupnik wants to break free but Stone has control.
Krupnik wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Stone breaks from the clinch.
Krupnik tries to score a power double leg takedown but Stone sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Krupnik somewhat.
Krupnik takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Stone shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Krupnik but Krupnik pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Stone stuffs the takedown attempt from Krupnik. Krupnik gets slowly back to his feet.

Krupnik tries to sprawl but Stone drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Stone stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Krupnik leaves Stone with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stone moves out of range as Krupnik strikes.
Krupnik tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Stone manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Horrible takedown by Krupnik or perhaps it was just good defense by Stone which made him look bad.

Stone closes the distance and clinches.
Stone is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Krupnik to keep the fight standing.
Stone changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Krupnik fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Krupnik fails to land the takedown.
Stone looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Stone defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Krupnik.
Krupnik wants to clinch but Stone slips to the side
and Stone counters with a body kick.
A good leg kick by Stone.

Krupnik shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Krupnik was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Stone tries to lock up and control but Krupnik gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Krupnik punching from mount but Stone doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Krupnik throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Krupnik can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Stone is looking to escape.
Krupnik is landing with some decent strikes but Stone is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Stone avoids a series of strikes thrown by Krupnik.
Stone wants to control but Krupnik is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Krupnik landing strikes from the mount and Stone is in trouble!
Stone is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ray Stone.
I think Stone has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
