The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDonald throws a sloppy head kick and Kaniss moves out of range easily.
McDonald tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kaniss swats him away and circles back towards the center.
McDonald lands with a nice body kick.

McDonald gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kaniss to score an easy takedown into full guard.
McDonald can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kaniss controls the pace.

Tony McDonald has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Joe Kaniss hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
McDonald fails in his attempt to clinch.

It looks like Joe Kaniss has been cut.
