Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paden Taber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hoyt Jurgensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jurgensen has chosen Peter, Paul & Mary - If I Had A Hammer as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paden Taber! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hoyt Jurgensen! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Columbo Gatti and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jurgensen shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Taber defends it nicely. Jurgensen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Taber as he jumps to the side. Jurgensen moves in looking to clinch but Taber pushes him off. Jurgensen stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Taber. Paden Taber seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A solid leg kick lands there for Taber.
A nice inside leg kick there by Taber. That's going to slow Jurgensen down. Taber swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A nice leg kick lands there from Taber. Taber jabs at Jurgensen's body. Taber tests Jurgensen's chin there with a solid looking shot. Taber lets loose with a powerful body kick. Jurgensen will feel that in the morning. Paden Taber is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Taber gets a clinch. Taber misses with a hook from the clinch. Jurgensen's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Taber breaks from the clinch.
Taber lands a nice hook to Jurgensen's body. Jurgensen takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Taber throws a right and a left that both miss. Jurgensen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Taber as he jumps to the side. Paden Taber has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hoyt Jurgensen. Taber connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Taber lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Taber throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Taber slaps away a takedown attempt from Jurgensen, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jurgensen shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Taber but Taber pushes him off and we're back to square one. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Taber, right into the meat.
Jab by Taber. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Taber darts in trying to clinch and Jurgensen counters with a two punch combo. A punch lands to the side of Jurgensen 's head but he takes it in his stride. Taber lands a nice looking body shot.
Jurgensen shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Taber counters with an inside leg kick. Taber lands a nice leg kick that just misses Jurgensen's sensitive parts.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fight stays on the outside here - Taber looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Taber lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Jurgensen forces Taber back against the cage and clinches. Jurgensen has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Taber clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Jurgensen is trying to stick to Taber's back but Taber is turning into Jurgensen. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Jurgensen's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Taber. Jurgensen wants to sweep here but Taber controlling him for the moment. Jurgensen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Taber can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Jurgensen wants to sweep here but Taber controlling him for the moment. Taber looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jurgensen has his feet on Taber's thighs here. He's pushed Taber off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Taber screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Hoyt Jurgensen! Hoyt Jurgensen retains his lightweight title! Hoyt Jurgensen tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
