Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Frank Little (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Sampson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Little!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Sampson!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, John Mangel and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sampson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sampson showed some decent athleticism there.
Sampson controlling the pace.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Little is looking to improve his position.
Sampson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Little does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Sampson wants to free his trapped foot but Little is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Sampson counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Sampson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Little. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Little wants to control but Sampson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Sampson is pressed up against the ropes. Little has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sampson down to the mat. Sampson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Sampson.
Little is trying to escape the position but Sampson is controlling the position.

Sampson wants to take a breather but Little manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Sampson.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sampson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Sampson trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Little is working to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Sampson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Little looks to clinch

and Sampson counters with a single leg into guard. Little didn't expect that.
Little looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Sampson puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

It looks like Sampson is going to stand back up.
Steve Sampson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Little wants to hold on but Sampson pushes him away.
Sampson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Sampson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Little is looking to escape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sampson avoids the attempt from Little to control.
Little is desperately trying to improve his position but Sampson has a good base and remains in mount.
Sampson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Little wants to use the ropes to get back to his feet here.

Sampson wants to control the pace but Little is squirming around nicely.
Little wants to control but Sampson is having none of it.
Little is desperately trying to improve his position but Sampson has a good base and remains in mount.

Sampson goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Little is on top in guard.
Sampson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Little is looking to stand up but Sampson won't let him.
Sampson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Sampson working a defensive guard but Little passes into half guard.
Little is keen to just control but Sampson is a slippery customer.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Little is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sampson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Frank Little has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Little looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Steve Sampson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sampson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
